Each all-in-one tray combines a drainage layer, water-storage cups, specially formulated substrate and 16 varieties of sedum grown from seed over approximately 12 months before delivery. Suitable for professional installers and DIY projects on extensions, sheds, garden offices and other structures.
Delivery pricing
The first tray includes the £80 ex VAT pallet-delivery charge. Each additional tray is £17.50 ex VAT. No further pallet-delivery charge applies for up to 45 trays. Order any quantity from 1 to 45 trays (45 trays fill one pallet, covering approx. 10m²). For more than 45 trays, please contact our team or place a separate order.
An all-in-one modular system
Each tray has 16 water-storage cups. Rainwater moves down through the sedum, substrate and clay granules into the cups, with drainage openings discharging excess gradually. This balances draining excess rainfall, retaining moisture for the roots, supplying oxygen to the root zone and supporting healthy growth.
How many trays and weight
Each tray is 460mm x 495mm x 80mm; approx. 4.5 trays cover 1m² (45 trays ≈ 10m²). Each tray weighs approx. 0.7kg empty and 13kg saturated; the saturated system is approx. 58kg/m². The roof structure must support the full saturated load plus protection layers, perimeter materials, snow and maintenance loads.
Preparing the roof and installation
Install over completed waterproofing. We recommend a protection fleece beneath, with perimeter edge trim and pebbles for a neat finish. Trays interlock: position the first, connect adjoining edges, cut around penetrations with a wood saw, and place any cut side against an adjoining tray. Install within 48 hours of receipt as they contain living vegetation.
Watering and maintenance
Water after installation and during prolonged dry weather. Repair small patches with sedum cuttings; lift and replace individual trays if larger areas are damaged. Apply a slow-release feed about every six months — Osmocote PrePlant Fertiliser.
Easy access to the waterproofing
Because the system consists of individual modular trays, sections can be temporarily lifted to inspect or access the roof waterproofing beneath.
This can make local inspection or repair considerably more straightforward than with a continuous substrate and vegetation build-up.
Important suitability note
These trays are not a primary waterproofing system and must only be installed over a suitable, fully completed roof covering.
The roof structure, waterproofing, drainage provision, upstands, outlets and perimeter restraint must all be suitable for the proposed green roof.
Projects involving pitched roofs, unusual roof constructions or uncertain structural capacity should be assessed before ordering.
